Do you sometimes feel like you are trying to keep track of a dozen things at once? It can be overwhelming to keep up with all our daily activities, especially when in the process, random ideas and thoughts just keep popping into our heads. If we fail to organize our thoughts, they could potentially wreak havoc on our productivity.
Most of our thoughts are just that—thoughts, not facts and the secret to rationalizing them better is to organize them.
Here are a few tips to help us organize our thought and ideas for maximum productivity:
Develop the habit of taking notes.
It’s very vital we make a habit of writing down our thoughts and ideas as they come. When a pen and paper are not at hand, useful apps like Evernote and Google Keep are good tools for “jotting down” and categorizing ideas.
Create a table of contents.
Organize your thoughts into groups so you can keep better track of it. Do you have different ideas about work, then you should write them down in the same place. If you have a lot of errands to run in a day, you could write a to-do list and set reminders.
Sit quietly or meditate.
Sometimes all we need is a little solitude to process our thoughts. Meditation can calm the mind and body. It can also help you sort out those thoughts subconsciously. Turn off or dim the lights, then sit quietly in a chair, or on the floor and reflect on those thoughts or just all the positives in your life.
Use sticky notes.
Sometimes the simplest solution may be the most effective. Sticky notes are a familiar staple in office settings but you can also make use of them at home. Get a sticky note and write down your to-do list and random thought and ideas. You could even color code them for better tracking.
