“Hello Weekend!” is a sentence we are sure you have been looking forward to saying all week.
You must be anticipating some time to relax this weekend but it coincides with the gubernatorial election holding on Saturday, 9th March. Lots of people are going to stay indoors after the voting exercise so we thought trying out this great recipe of one of Nigeria’s most beloved staple food could help you pass the time.
Check it out below:
1/2 medium tuber water yam
1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper
1/2 medium size onion
2 tablespoons ground crayfish
2 cloves garlic
1 seasoning cube
Salt to taste
Slice, peel and cut the water yam into chunks, then grate into a fine paste using the smallest part of the grater.
Add the crayfish, sliced onions, minced garlic, ground pepper, seasoning cube, and salt to taste.
Mix thoroughly but do not add water
Place a deep saucepan on medium heat, add enough oil to deep fry the batter.
When it’s hot, scoop the batter into the hot oil in small dollops
Once it’s golden brown, flip to the other side to ensure it’s completely deep fried.
Ojojo soaks in oil, so it’s advisable to transfer it onto a paper towel lined plate or squeeze out the excess oil first.
